Gaza's Electricity Crisis Israeli Occupation Cannot Block Out the Sun

The third paper in this series, Gaza's Electricity Crisis: The Occupation Cannot Block Out the Sun, written by engineer Abdullah Al-Kurdi from Gaza, centers on the undeniable truth that Israel cannot destroy the sun-the sole energy source that remains untouchable by the occupation. This core concept should be at the heart of any strategic plan or intervention in the energy sectors across the West Bank and Gaza. Palestine is blessed with a daily abundance of sunlight, with over 300 sunny days each year. Palestinians must harness this resource to its fullest potential. Although this paper focuses on Gaza, the principle of maximizing solar energy extends to the West Bank as well. The Palestinian Authority's debt to the Israel Electric Corporation stands at around ILS 4 billion, which represents roughly 21 percent of the gross domestic product-an alarming figure. Breaking away from entrenched energy monopolies by investing in solar infrastructure offers a sustainable solution to Gaza's energy crisis and reduces reliance on external energy sources.
