Survivors from the Crisis: Merchants and Bankers!

In a new study prepared by the Social and Economic Policies Monitor (Marsad) on the contrasting impact of increasing prices on the poor and the rich, it was found that the vulnerable and marginalized categories have suffered more over a longer period of negative impacts from economic crises. The impact sometimes reached a point where poverty has become a matter of life and death. Influence, sources of power, monopoly and control over economic resources has rendered the impact and burden much more severe on the poor, which manifested in the lack of justice in the distribution of income between the poor and the rich. This has exacerbated sense of despair and depravation amongst those who lack the resources to cope with crises, which was accompanied by further accumulation of capital amongst a select few at both local and international levels, who allied together due to shared interests.
